Thank you Mr. President | Based in Marin County California we at Gay U.S.A. the Movie and Blog are delighted that President Obama has filed a brief in support of marriage equality for California.

The Obama administration will file a friend-of-the-court brief late today in support of the two gay couples who launched the fight to overturn the insidious voter approved Prop 8 over four years ago,  officials are reporting. Today is the last day for filing briefs in support of the couples’ position.

An enormous amount of support has come in through amicii briefs over the past weeks in both the Prop and DOMA cases, which will be determined by the Supreme Court of the United States. Arguments will be heard in March and and a ruling will be delivered in June, 2013.

We at Gay U.S.A. had every faith that President Obama would put his money where his mouth is.  in January during his inaugural address  he said, “Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law, for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.”

AP has noted that: “The brief marks the president’s most expansive view of gay marriage and signals that he is moving away from his previous assertion that states should determine their own marriage laws.”

We thank the President and his administration for supporting marriage equality for all Americans.
