The World Series and The San Francisco Giants win. San Francisco is a buzz with tomorrow’s one and a half mile ticker tape parade from the Embarcadero’s Ferry building to City Hall. The San Francisco LGBTI community are fans and it could could not be more obvious than through a scroll down the Castro last Saturday afternoon as fans could be heard screaming from the Gay area’s TV blaring restaurants, coffee shops and bars. What an extraordinary experience to hear the non-orchestrated yet synchronized cheers, echoing from 19th to Market, all along Castro street on the day of the big win.
In a letter to community, out Gay State Senator, Mark Leno, also a participant in GAY U.S.A. the Movie sent this letter about the San Francisco Giants Parade scheduled for tomorrow:-
San Francisco welcomes home the 2012 World Series champion Giants this Wednesday, October 31! Whether you’re headed out to the streets to be showered in a sea of orange and black or you just need to get to school or the office, we want to help ensure you arrive at your destination safely.
Tomorrow’s ticker-tape parade and civic celebration begins at 11:00 a.m. The parade route starts at Market and Steuart Streets. It then travels west on Market Street, turns right onto McAllister Street, and then proceeds west to City Hall for the Civic Center celebration. The parade is estimated to last 2 hours.
Giants fans are strongly encouraged to take public transportation to the parade and Civic Center due to limited parking and traffic congestion.
BART, Muni, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, SamTrans, and ferries will all run extra service and shuttles throughout the day.
The following street closures will be in effect starting at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday:
No traffic or cross traffic will be allowed on Market Street between Steuart Street and Van Ness Avenue after 9:30 a.m. The streets will re-open at approximately 5:00 p.m.
