GAY U.S.A. the Movie is wishing our Equality President, Barack Obama, the best of luck for tonight ‘s debate.  The American LGBTI community and that of the world will watch with bated breathe as tonight’s critical debate hopefully will reflect the President at his best.  Barack Obama must show Mitt Romney for who he is. While Obama is a man for the people, as best as is possible given the constraints of this system, Romney is out of touch and millions of miles away from America as most of us know it.

Hopefully the President will call Romney out on inaccuracies in no uncertain terms; hopefully the President will remind Romney about the obstructionist Republican Congress that has bruised and burdened America for these past four years. America is recovering from the Bush debacle and what we do not need is an entirely different path that risks further wars and ineptitude from blithering idiots who do not have a care or a clue about what to do other than feather their own nests.

When all is said and done nothing could be worse for American and worldwide gays, lesbians, transgender, bisexual, and intersex people than Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

With mere weeks to election 2012. We could not do better ourselves and so pick the week’s most succinct and important views for  Politics Report:

  • Romney win could delay Supreme Court action on DOMA
Legal experts familiar with pending cases involving the Defense of Marriage Act say it’s unclear what would happen to ones awaiting action by the Supreme Court if Mitt Romney wins the presidential election. Romney has vowed to reverse President Barack Obama’s decision not to defend the constitutionality of the law, but the timing of certain briefing deadlines and the presidential inauguration makes it likely the court will defer the briefing schedule until the new administration is in place. “I think as a matter of continuity they would pay a lot of attention to what the incoming administration was able to say about its desires,” said Tom Goldstein of SCOTUSblog. • Group wants kids to skip school to avoid anti-bullying program
The American Family Association is advising parents to keep kids home from school on “Mix it Up at Lunch Day,” a program that pairs up kids of different backgrounds in an attempt to broaden understanding and curb bullying. AFA said the program is “a nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools,” a charge organizers say is a lie. “We’ve become used to the idea of lunatic fringe attacks, but this one was complete misrepresentation,” said Maureen Costello of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which organizes the program. • Victory names “12 Races to Watch” featuring LGBT candidates
The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, which has endorsed 180 openly LGBT candidates this year, has released a list of a dozen races that are helping make 2012 a groundbreaking year for LGBT politics. The group’s “12 Races to Watch” include state legislative contests in Ohio, West Virginia and North Dakota, as well as more high-profile races such as Rep. Tammy Baldwin’s run for Senate in Wisconsin. The Huffington Post (10/15), GayPolitics.com

  • Marriage campaigns not resting on good poll numbers
Pro-marriage organizers in four states with marriage questions on their ballots this fall say they aren’t content with polls showing them ahead. Similar polls — such as the ones in 2008 that indicated Proposition 8 would narrowly lose — have been wrong. “We cannot take it for granted,” said Josh Levin, manager of the Marylanders for Marriage Equality campaign, who said he expects the final count to be extremely close. Because its polls close earliest on Election Day, Maryland could become the first state in the country to approve marriage equality via the ballot box. Google/The Associated Press

  • Openly LGBT candidates face tougher road in Tenn., advocates say
Tennessee has elected only one LGBT candidate to public office in its history, but that could change early next year if an announced openly gay candidate wins his race for the Chattanooga City Council, according to this article. The state’s politics are heavily influenced by religious conservatives, and out candidates have to be “willing to wade into that environment,” said former Nashville Metro Councilman Keith Durbin. Retail chain Nordstrom Inc. has expressed its support for marriage equality in a memo to employees from company president Blake Nordstrom. “It is our belief that our gay and lesbian employees are entitled to the same rights and protections marriage provides as all our employees,” Nordstrom said.
