Exposing the dirty play of Minnesota for Marriage as they attempt to destroy the lives of existing Minnesotan Same-sex families who are entitled to their Constitutional right to equality.
By Melanie Nathan, April 04, 2012.
While the Minnesota Governor, Mark Dayton, Democrat, is urging the State NOT to vote to change the Constitution, the Pro Amendment and anti-gay organization, “Minnesota for Marriage” is playing dirty tricks using NOM inspired tactics through the launch of a series of baloney videos. With a barrage of misrepresentations and unrelated material, the group is trying to use pretty ‘non cognitive celebrities’ speaking with confused tongue, to rally the voters with messages that make no sense at all! You have to see it to believe it.
Last week The National Organization for Marriage, NOM received widespread exposure as their shocking tactics were made public through the release of previously sealed documents in an investigation by the Maine Ethics Commission.
It seems as if Minnesota for Marriage studied the blue print and decided to use the NOM strategy in their campaign, to change the Minnesota Constitution to support defining marriage as between a man and a woman only. Minnesota for Marriage probably produced this series of videos before the dramatic NOM exposure was made public and were stupid enough to continue to launch the series of videos, regardless, not thinking it would be exposed under the now highly embarrassing banner of NOM garbage.
The harmful and misleading videos, disguised as educational, and launched on the Minnesota for Marriage website are unconscionably misleading and invoke false analogies, as they seek to influence the voters to vote yes on an Amendment that would ban same-sex marriage.
With the smooth pretty talk of what NOM would call a ‘non-cognitive celebrity,’ the series uses a well known anchor to deliver the song and dance!
The message attempts to tout that children need a mother and a father, and hence via an anti-divorce message purport to analogize by association that two moms or two dads are tantamount to single parenting. Note this provocative and confusing header “Minnesota For Marriage Releases New Minnesota Marriage Minute Video: “Isn’t it true that children don’t really need a mom and a dad – any two living parents will do?”
The website notes in fluffy TV terminology, “Minnesota Marriage Minute is an ongoing dialogue with Minnesota voters hosted by veteran news anchor Kalley Yanta.”
Does this sound like a recently exposed NOM tactic? Playing pretty using celebrities, with misuse of language and unrelated associating facts? As long as she is pretty and reads the fluff that means nothing to the amendment issue per se, it is believed that they can fool the Minnesotan public. After all what did divorce have to do with loving same-sex couples? The Video also slights adoption of any children and is quite insulting to so many different types of families.
The site states that the (so called) “educational videos are designed to explore issues related to the marriage amendment.” Yet do nothing to further the actual pertinent issues to the discussion.
The videos are in a question and answer format and are released on a weekly basis. The video cites divorce and single family impacts with statistics and by association seems to falsely apply to the Marriage Amendment issues.
Another provocative video released by the Anti-gay group Minnesota for Marriage in the same series asks: “Minnesota For Marriage Releases New Marriage Minute Video: Won’t the Marriage Protection Amendment damage Minnesota’s economy because gays and lesbians will shun our state?” Extremely misleading and a foul play, similar to the tactics adopted by NOM in their attempts to thwart marriage equality!
Hopefully Minnesotans will see through the ploy, realize their collective intelligence has been insulted and that loving and respecting an intact Constitution will serve the State better than falling prey to such tomfoolery.
