After two years in the making, GAY U.S.A. the Movie announces the release of a promotional trailer, as the production heads into its final shooting phase. Gay U.S.A. the Movie, is a film like none other, using cinematic splendor to encompass every angle of the quest for gay rights, the final frontier for equality in America.
This film is the vision of Kristina Lapinski, who in her twenties, decided to cross the generational divide to influence the critical 2012 elections for the attainment of LGBT equality, traveling across the USA to capture the heartfelt stories of those impacted, to interview the religious and scientists in a quest for understanding, and to engage the politicians charged with honoring the Constitution.
GAY U.S.A. the Movie addresses the law, politics and social issues of gay rights in America; how these issues impact our families across generations, and the philosophical core of the religious and scientific debate. Gay U.S.A. is an in depth exploration of the gay rights debate, and in unprecedented cinematic quality for a documentary of this nature, sheds light on the varying perspectives of the issue as viewed by Americans from across the country.
This is a critical year for equality, as ballot measures for marriage equality will be voted on across the country. This film is designed to help educate and influence the popular vote; a grassroots project that depends on the help of our community and allies. We trust that you will watch the promo and pass it on to those who want to see how they can help.
Already the film has made its mark through its making, as Kristina tackled Republican presidential candidates Gingrich and Santorum with the encounters going viral in Press Blogs, and the attack of Melanie and Kristina at the Santorum Rally in Tacoma, WASHINGTON . See the Site Press and Blog.

Filmmaker:
Kristina Lapinski is producing GAY U.S.A. and has amassed hundreds of hours of footage for over 2 years reflecting encounters, interviews and scenes at every spectrum of the equality movement, speaking to both proponents and opponents of LGBT rights. Kristina has extended her reach from liberal to right, extrapolating revealing footage that will serve to open the door to the millions of Americans who are unacquainted with gay rights in America. Kristina: “Public education and compelling stories will win our movement. Media has the profound effect of exposing new worlds to viewers in a dramatic and impactive way, and this endeavor will truly reach out to every demographic as a pop culture film. Our community needs to deliver a full scope education to America, and GAY U.S.A. will bring the issues to the big screen.”
Co-Producer and Blog Publisher:
Melanie Nathan is an attorney-mediator who is co-producer and publisher of GAY U.S.A. She is well known for her equality and human rights activism and writing in the U.S.A. and abroad. She advocates for marriage equality, same-sex binational couples, global LGBTI asylum, decriminalization of homosexuality and for reform on the issue of so called ‘corrective’ rape of lesbians in South Africa. Melanie brings years of experience in law, writing, editing, social media to the project. Melanie: “I am so excited about the promise of this project and our unique alliance. I believe that our civil rights are attainable to the extent of full and absolute equality; yet the challenge remains in finding a way to inform those who remain uninformed, misinformed or indifferent to this vital American value.”
Music:
Denise Gentilini is a two time Emmy award winning composer and songwriter. Using her music to champion causes, Denise has composed music for and has produced documentaries tackling such subjects as genocide awareness, nuclear disarmament and autism awareness and fundraising. Denise believes strongly in the power of music to open hearts and heal divisions – music is truly a universal language. Denise: “I am thrilled to be a part of this project alongside these incredibly talented and motivated women. I can no longer sit idly by and watch my friends and family be treated as second class citizens. This project hits me right at home and I am honored to be able to add my voice with the language I speak. My hope is that the addition of my music will help to open people’s minds.”
